How to edit photos and images in Dropbox

This functionality is available to all Dropbox users.

You can make basic edits to photos and images on dropbox.com and on the Dropbox mobile app.

Log in to dropbox.com.
Open the image you’d like to edit.
Click one of these options on the toolbar:
- Rotate left or Rotate right: Rotate the direction of the image.
- Flip: Flip the image horizontally.
- Crop: Trim the image by dragging the edges of the white rectangle to your preferred points, and click Save.
  - Note: You can also set custom width and height dimensions in the left sidebar.
- Adjust: Use the sliders in the left sidebar to make the following light and color adjustments:
  - Brightness: Adjust the overall lightness or darkness of your image.
  - Contrast: Make the differences between the light and dark areas of your image clearer.
  - Highlight: Emphasize the brightest parts of your image.
  - Shadow: Deepen the darkest parts of your image.
  - Exposure: Change how light or dark your image looks.
  - Saturation: Intensify the colors in your image, affecting how vivid or muted they appear.
  - Temperature: Adjust the balance of warm (yellow/orange) and cool (blue) tones in your image.
- Enhance: Choose one of the following options to improve the quality of your image:
  - Upscale: Increase the resolution of a blurry or low-quality image.
  - Auto-straighten: Automatically align your image.
  - Color correct: Improve the color balance of your image.
  - Filter: Select one of the following filters to change the appearance of your image:
    - Grayscale
    - Boost
    - Sepia
    - Vintage
    - Instant
    - Grainy
    - Pixels
- Watermark: Customers on Dropbox Professional, Essentials, Standard, Business, Advanced, Business Plus, and Enterprise can add a watermark to images to protect them from unauthorized use. Learn more about watermarks.
- To undo a change, click the undo icon (curved arrow pointing left) in the upper right, or use Control-Z (Windows) or Command-Z (macOS).
- To redo a change, click the redo icon (curved arrow pointing right) in the upper right, or use Control-Shift-Z (Windows) or Command-Shift-Z (macOS).
Click Save in the upper right to save your changes.
- Select Save a copy to preserve the original image and save the changes in a new image file. Choose where you’d like to save the new image and click Save copy to confirm.
- Select Replace original to overwrite the original file with your edits.

Note: The Upscale, Auto-straighten, and Color correct options in the Enhance menu use machine learning to improve your photos. We don’t send your data outside of Dropbox or use your data to train machine learning tools.

Open the Dropbox mobile app.
Log in with your credentials.
Tap the photo or image you’d like to edit.
Tap the edit icon (pencil) to begin editing.
- To rotate the image, tap the rotate icon (arrow pointing clockwise). The image will rotate clockwise at a 90-degree angle on each tap.
- To crop the image, tap the crop icon (square with overlapping corners), then drag the white edges to your preferred locations and tap the checkmark in the lower right (Android) or upper right (iOS).
Tap Save (Android) or Done (iOS) to save your changes.
