Coordinate & create in the new Dropbox desktop app

Coordinate work next to content by pinning files and adding folder descriptions, to-dos, and @mentions in the folder overview on the new Dropbox desktop app. Once added to a folder, pins, notes, lists, to-dos, @mentions, and links will appear for you and everyone else who opens that folder on the new desktop app, dropbox.com, and the Dropbox mobile app.

Note: If you see these options on your folder, but aren’t using the new desktop app, the owner of the file or folder is using it.

How to: new Dropbox features

Star

You can continue to star folders for easy access on dropbox.com as you did before. In the new desktop app, starred folders will appear in the left side column under Starred.

To star a file or folder in the new desktop app:

  1. Open the new desktop app.
  2. Click a file or folder.
  3. Click the (ellipses).
  4. Click Star.

Pin

When you open a folder, you can pin any file to the top for easy access. Anyone who opens that folder will see the pinned file at the top in the new desktop app and on dropbox.com. 

To pin a file:

  1. Open the new desktop app.
  2. Click a file or folder.
  3. Click the (ellipses).
  4. Click Pin.

Notes, lists, to-dos, links, and @ mentions

When you open a folder, you can add notes, lists, to-dos, links, and @ mentions. Anyone who opens that folder these features in the new desktop app and on dropbox.com. 

To add notes, lists, to-dos, links, and @ mentions:

  1. Open the new desktop app.
  2. Click a folder. Its folder overview will open.
  3. Click the area at the top where you see Type notes, lists, to-dos, and links here and add your content.
