Why was Mailbox shut down?

Mailbox was shut down on February 26, 2016 to allow us greater focus as a company.

From the time Mailbox joined Dropbox in 2013 until it was shut down, the landscape around communication tools evolved rapidly, and so did our focus. To be able to say "yes" to the biggest areas of impact, we had to say "no" to other good and valuable things. Those trade-offs are hard, but they are also the stuff that great companies are made of. We're sad to no longer support Mailbox, but we're excited for what's ahead.

At Dropbox, we're as focused as ever on our mission to simplify how people work together. We hope you'll stay tuned as we build on this mission.
