Create a Space (data room) in Dropbox DocSend

Spaces are our virtual data rooms (VDRs). You can create a Space from the Spaces page or from files or folders on the Content page. Each account can have its own Space, or you can create multiple links to the same Space for flexible content sharing. The Spaces tab shows an overview of your Spaces, while selecting Team spaces from the dropdown displays all Spaces created by your team

Create a new Space 

To create a new Space:

1. Log in to docsend.com.
2. Click Spaces in the left sidebar.
3. Click Create Space or choose a template to get started.

By default, the Space title is “Untitled”. You can edit this by clicking the title to create your own. You can also add a subtitle in the same way.

Create a Space from Content library

There are multiple ways to create a Space directly from Content library.

To create a new Space from Content Library:

1. Log in to docsend.com.
2. Click Content library.
3. Select the folder you want to use to create a Space.
4. Click Share.
5. Configure your preferred link settings.
6. Click Create link.
7. You can now copy and paste your link to start sharing.

Youll be taken to your newly created Space.

To create a new Space from Content library using multi-select:

1. Log in to docsend.com.
2. Click Content library.
3. Select the files and folders you would like in your new Space.
4. Click Share as space. 

You will be directed to your new Space with the files and folders selected. 

Create Spaces from folders

Alternatively, you can create a Space from uploaded folders on the Content library page, making it even easier to create a Space and manage existing content.

To create a Space from a folder:

1. Click Content library.
2. Click   (more options).
3. Click Share as Space.
4. Configure your preferred link settings.
5. Click Create link.
6. 6. You’ll be taken to your newly created Space.
7. Click Copy link to share your new Space.

Create a folder in a Space

1. Click on the Space you would like to create a folder in.
2. Click the Create folder in the upper-right corner.
3. Name your folder.
4. Click Create or Import from CSV.

You can see how many items are in a folder and the types of files within a Space.

Space links and settings

Once your Space is configured and ready to share, creating a link is just as simple.

To create a Space link using Share within a selected Space:

1. Click Spaces in the left sidebar.
2. Click the name of the Space you want to share.
3. Click Share in the upper-right corner.
   
4. Click Create link.
5. Configure your preferred link settings.
6. Click Copy link to share the Space link.
   

To create a space link within the Spaces tab:

1. Click the Space you want to create a link for.
2. Click Share.
   
3. Click Create link.
4. Configure your preferred link settings.
5. Click Copy link to share.
   
   

Link settings

Similar to content links, you can edit the settings on a Space link any time.

1. Click the name of the Space you want to change link settings for.
2. Click Share.
3. Click   (edit icon).
   
4. Configure your link settings.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

Download the index of a space

A data room index contains a content tree that includes a breakdown of all folders and files in a space. Admins, collaborators, and external visitors can download the index of a Space in a CSV file, which includes metadata for each item it contains. Learn more about downloading the index of a Space.

Space visits

Visits to a Space are only tracked on the document level. When a visitor opens a Space and views a document, the visit is logged on the document and attributed to the Space. Space visits are also owned by the Space owner.

To see all visits to documents in a Space: 

1. Click on the name of the Space you want to see visitor data for.
2. Click Analytics in the left sidebar.

If you want to see who visited the Space but didn’t look at the content:

1. Click on the name of the Space you want to see visitor data for.
2. Click Audit log.
3. Click Users to filter a specific person’s activity.
4. Click Download to export the data.
