How to use the Dropbox Dash start page

This article describes features available to all Dropbox Dash customers.

The Dropbox Dash start page allows you to access all the content you’ve connected to Dash from one place. From the start page, you can search and explore content across your apps, access and create Stacks, draft new content, and ask questions about your content.

How to access the Dropbox Dash start page

You can access the Dash start page by going to dash.ai in a browser tab.

Dash start page features

Search bar

You can use the search bar at the top of the start page to navigate through some key actions: 

  • Attach sources: Click add  (add) to attach a file.
  • Chat controls: Click slider (slider) and select from the following options:
    • Web search: Enable or disable web search by using the checkbox.
    • Model: Select the AI model you want to use, or leave it on “Best” to select the best option for your task.
      • Click More models for a full list of available models.
      • Notes:
        • When set to Auto, Dropbox chooses the best model for your task, and this same model will be saved for all chat sessions unless you change it. 
        • Some models are only visible to certain users.
        • Model availability may change over time.
    • Connect apps: Connect third-party apps to Dash.
    • Dictate: Click  (mic) to speak your query.

The start page also offers personalized suggestions based on your history and an improved typeahead feature that helps you retrieve frequently accessed items directly as you type.

Left sidebar

The left sidebar is the main navigation center for the Dropbox Dash start page. From the sidebar, you can:

 

Recents

The Recents tab below the search bar shows the files and links you most recently accessed.

Stacks

The Stacks tab below the search bar allows you to view your Stacks. You can adjust which Stacks you see in this section by clicking  (filter).

You can filter your Stacks by clicking:

  • For you to see recommended Stacks based on your activity.
  • Created by me to see the Stacks you’ve created.
  • Shared with me to see other people’s Stacks that have been shared with you. 
  • From my company to see Stacks that members of your organization have created that you have access to. 

Stacks made by Dash will appear on your start page. You can keep suggested Stacks or dismiss them. Learn more about managing Stacks made by Dash. 

Upcoming events

If you’ve connected a calendar app to your Dash account, you can see your upcoming events for the day in the Upcoming events panel on the right side of the start page. You can click  (open calendar) from this panel to open your calendar app. 

Clicking the title of one of your events will show its description. Clicking Open calendar below the description will open your calendar app directly to that event.

Activity feed

Your activity feed shows recent changes made to files you have access to. You can filter the content in your feed by clicking  (filter) and checking the boxes next to the apps from which you’d like the activity feed to show content. Changes to your files appear on the activity feed in chronological order.

Note: The activity feed only shows files from some connected apps. Learn more about connecting apps to Dash.

Settings

You can access your Dropbox Dash settings from the start page. To open the settings page:

  1. Open the Dropbox dash start page by opening a new browser tab.
  2. Click Account in the left sidebar.
  3. Select Settings.

Select the General tab to:

  • Choose a theme for the app between Light, Dark, and System which will select the default theme of your computer.
  • Learn how to disable Dropbox Dash as the default tab by hovering over  (info).
  • Clear your browsing history to prevent history from appearing in Dash search results.

Select the Apps tab to connect or manage apps in Dropbox Dash.

You can now choose from a curated list of AI models in each Chat experience, selecting the model that best fits your needs before submitting a prompt.
