How to add Airtable to Dropbox Dash

This article describes a feature available to all Dropbox Dash users.


You can add your Airtable account to Dropbox Dash so you can access and search your Airtable content directly within Dash. 

Requirements

To add Airtable to Dash, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Admin approval: If Airtable isn’t listed in your Apps, contact your admin. Learn more about admin approval.
  • Authorization: You must authorize Dash in Airtable.
  • Active account: You need an active account with Airtable.

Integration features

For Airtable, Dash captures the following details:

  • Bases and tables: Search across the bases and tables you have access to, which you can designate during the OAuth process.

API permissions

When connecting Airtable with Dropbox Dash, Dash requests the following authorizations:

  • The data in your records: This permission allows Dash to index tables, their content, descriptions, and titles to help you search over your Airtable data. 
  • Comments in your records: This permission makes Airtable comments searchable in Dash.
  • The structure of your base, like table names or field types: This permission allows Dash to index base names and IDs and fetch tables for those bases.
  • Your email address: This permission helps identify you after authentication and personalize your experience.

How content syncing works

  • Content sync starts right after the connection is made, so you can quickly search for the most relevant data.
  • Incremental sync occurs every hour.

How to add your Airtable account to Dropbox Dash

To add Airtable to Dropbox Dash:

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.
  3. Locate Airtable in the apps list.
  4. Click (add) to the right of Airtable.
  5. Enter your login credentials, or select an account to connect to Dash.
  6. Review the permissions requested, then click Allow.

How to remove your Airtable account from Dropbox Dash

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.
  3. Locate Airtable in the apps list.
  4. Click  (more options) to the right of Airtable.
  5. Click Disconnect.
  6. Click Disconnect in the pop-up window. 
    • Note: You can reconnect the app anytime.

How to check your added apps

To check what apps you’ve added to Dropbox Dash:

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.

You’ll see a list of your added apps in the Added section, along with their connection status.

Admins: How to add Airtable for your team

Before your team members can add their Airtable accounts to Dropbox Dash, you’ll need to enable it in the admin console. To do this:

  1. Log in to dash.ai using your admin credentials.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the lower left.
  3. Select Admin console.
  4. Click Apps.
  5. Click the More apps tab. 
  6. Click  Add to the right of Airtable.
  7. Click Enable Airtable in the pop-up window.

You’ll see a notification that says Airtable was enabled.
