How to connect Gmail to Dropbox Dash

Requirements

To connect Gmail to Dash, make sure you meet the following requirements:

• Admin approval: If Gmail isn’t listed in your Apps, contact your admin. Learn more about admin approval.
• Authorization: You must authorize Dash in Gmail.
• Active account: You need an active account with Gmail.

Integration features

For Gmail, Dash captures the following details:

• Messages: Dash gathers basic email information such as the sender, recipient, subject line, body text, timestamp, and attachment names.
• Contacts: Dash gathers basic contact information such as the contact display name, email, and profile image to enhance email search capabilities.

API permissions

When connecting Gmail with Dropbox Dash, Dash requests the following authorizations:

• Read your email address: This permission is required for authentication and identity verification.
• Read your Gmail: This permission allows Dash to search through emails to find relevant results.

How content syncing works

• Content sync starts as soon as you connect. Although the first sync may take several hours to finish, you can start searching while sync is in progress.
• Dash performs a full sync of your Gmail content every 7 days and an incremental sync every 12 minutes.

How to connect your Gmail account to Dropbox Dash

To connect Gmail to Dropbox Dash:

1. Log in to dash.ai.
2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.
3. Locate Gmail in the apps list.
4. Click ①(add) to the right of Gmail.
5. Enter your login credentials, or select an account to connect to Dash.
6. Review the permissions requested, then click Allow.

How to remove your Gmail account from Dropbox Dash

1. Log in to dash.ai.
2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.
3. Locate Gmail in the apps list.
4. Click ①(more options) to the right of Gmail.
5. Click Disconnect.
6. Click Disconnect in the pop-up window. 
   • Note: You can reconnect the app anytime.

How to check your connected apps

To check what apps you’ve connected to Dropbox Dash:

1. Log in to dash.ai.
2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.

You’ll see a list of your connected apps in the Added section, along with their connection status.

Admins: How to connect Gmail for your team

Before your team members can connect their Gmail accounts to Dropbox Dash, you’ll need to enable it in the admin console. To do this:

1. Log in to dash.ai using your admin credentials.
2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the lower left.
3. Select Admin console.
4. Click Apps.
5. Click the More apps tab. 
6. Click ①Add to the right of Gmail.
7. Click Enable Gmail in the pop-up window.

You’ll see a notification that says Gmail was enabled.
