How to add Zendesk to Dropbox Dash

This article describes a feature available to all Dropbox Dash customers.

You can add your Zendesk account to Dropbox Dash so you can access and search Zendesk articles you have access to directly within Dash. 

 

This requires OAuth authentication to ensure Dash only retrieves information relevant to your data, giving you full control over what Dash can access.

Requirements

 

To add Zendesk to Dash, make sure you meet the following requirements:

 

  • Admin approval: The app must be enabled by your Dash admin. If Zendesk isn’t listed in your Apps, contact your admin.
  • Authorization: You must authorize Dash in Zendesk.
  • Active account: You need an active account with Zendesk.

Integration features

 

For Zendesk, Dash captures the following details:

 

  • Knowledge base articles: Dash gathers the titles and content of Zendesk articles that you have access to so it can search through these items.

 

Dash also retrieves additional search results directly from Zendesk.

API permissions

 

When adding Zendesk to Dropbox Dash, Dash requests the following authorizations:

 

  • Read your Zendesk articles: So that Dash can read and allow you to search over your articles.

Note: Zendesk doesn’t display the required permissions while adding the app to Dropbox Dash. All required permissions and captured content are included in this article.

How to add your Zendesk account to Dropbox Dash

 

To add Zendesk to Dropbox Dash:

 

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.
  3. Locate Zendesk in the apps list.
  4. Click  (add) to the right of Zendesk.
  5. Enter your Zendesk subdomain and click Add.
  6. Enter your Zendesk login credentials and click Sign in.
  7. Click Close window.

 

Zendesk will now appear in the Added section of the Apps page.

Note: You may need to refresh the Apps page and wait a few moments before Zendesk appears.

How to remove your Zendesk account from Dropbox Dash

 

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.
  3. Locate Zendesk in the apps list.
  4. Click  (more options) to the right of Zendesk.
  5. Click Disconnect.
  6. Click Disconnect in the pop-up window that appears. 
    • Note: You can reconnect the app anytime.

How to check your added apps

 

To check what apps you’ve added to Dropbox Dash:

 

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.

 

You’ll see a list of your added apps in the Added section, along with their connection status.

 

Admins: How to add Zendesk for your team

 

Before your team members can add their Zendesk accounts to Dropbox Dash, you’ll need to enable it in the admin console. To do this:

 

  1. Log in to dash.ai using your admin credentials.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the lower left.
  3. Select Admin console.
  4. Click Apps
  5. Click the More apps tab. 
  6. Click  Add to the right of Zendesk.
  7. Click Enable Zendesk in the pop-up window.

 

You’ll see a notification that says Zendesk was enabled.
