The information in this article applies to all Dropbox Dash users.

You can connect your Notion account to Dropbox Dash, so you can access and search all of your Notion content directly within Dash. This requires OAuth authentication to ensure that Dash only retrieves information relevant to your data, giving you full control over what Dash can access. Dash strictly adheres to the OAuth model, meaning it only accesses the data you specifically permit.

Notes:

  • Team members can connect to Dropbox Dash only after their Dash admin approves and enablesd the integration. After approval, they must grant Dash permission to access their account.
  • You must have an active Notion account to connect with Dash.

Integration features

For Notion, Dash captures the following details:

  • Pages: A Notion page is where you can add content such as text, images, and to-do lists. Dash gathers information such as the page title, content data, and timestamp, so it can search these items.
  • Attachments: Attachments or files can be uploaded or linked to Notion. Dash gathers the attachment name and file type, so it can search these items.
  • User information: Dash gathers information such as name, email address, and profile picture to enhance search capabilities.

API usage

When connecting Notion, Dash requests the following authorizations:

  • View pages you select: Allows Dash to view pages you selected. This enables Dash to search your pages.
  • View comments within pages you select: Allows Dash to view comments within the pages you selected. This enables Dash to further enhance search results.
  • View workspace users and their email addresses: Allows Dash to see basic information about all workspace members and guest data, including their names, profile images, and email addresses. This enables Dash to collect user metadata to power the Dash experience on people data.

How content syncing works

  • Content sync begins immediately after establishing a connection, to ensure you can start searching right away, prioritizing the most relevant data.
  • Activity feed shows content a user has engaged with through actions such as previewing, uploading, creating, commenting, opening, modifying, sharing, and receiving shared content.
  • Incremental sync occurs every 15 minutes.
