The Samsung Device app is an app developed by Samsung—it gives your device access to the contents of your Dropbox folder. The app syncs the contents of your Dropbox folder to your device's built-in photo gallery or to a special DocumentSync folder.
How can I disable the Samsung Device app?
If the Samsung Device app is enabled, any synced Dropbox files you delete or modify from within your device's gallery or DocumentSync folder will be changed or deleted in Dropbox as well. Because this can lead to unintended deletions, it is usually best to disable the Samsung Device app.
The Samsung Device app is separate from Dropbox and can be disabled without affecting Dropbox itself:
- Tap your device's Menu button
- Tap Settings
- Tap Cloud
- Look for Documents or DocumentSync (sometimes called "ContentSync") in your Dropbox account info
- Toggle off
You can also disable the Samsung Device app from the Dropbox website:
- Sign in to the Dropbox website account security tab
- Find the Samsung Device app under Apps linked
- Click the small x at the far right of where it says Samsung Device
Note: On certain versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, this gallery feature also allows you to delete photos from both the gallery on your phone and from Dropbox.
If you would like to disconnect the Dropbox app from the Samsung Device app, please follow the steps above.
You can also see who added, deleted, or changed a file by looking at the previous version history on the Dropbox website.
