This article describes a feature available to all Dropbox Dash customers.

You can connect your organization’s Gong account to Dropbox Dash to make it easier for your team to find call details, transcripts, and user data—all within Dash. With just one click, they can view information directly in Dash or be taken to the relevant content in Gong. Adding Gong to Dropbox Dash keeps your Gong content in sync and easy to access.

Requirements

To add Gong to Dash, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Authorization: OAuth authentication to ensure that Dash only retrieves information relevant to the user’s data, allowing full control over what Dash can access.
  • Active account: You must have an active service account with Gong.

Integration features

For Gong, Dash captures the following details:

  • Call Data: Basic call data, such as title, duration, and language
  • Transcripts and details: Transcript data and details for recorded calls

Note: When you clickicon (link) next to a Gong search result in Dash, it creates an internal sharing link. You’ll need to open Gong if you’d like to create an external sharing link. Learn how to share calls with Gong.

API permissions

When adding Gong to Dropbox Dash, Dash requests the following authorizations:

  • Retrieve basic call data (title, duration, spoken language): Lets Dash display results with your call title.
  • Retrieve user data (ID, name, phone number): Lets Dash identify users to support filtering results and permission management.
  • Retrieve extended call data (interaction, stats, speakers, main topics): Lets Dash use the AI summary of the call, purpose, agenda, and key points to help improve search relevance and ranking.
  • Retrieve a call transcript: Lets Dash retrieve the most relevant results and a preview of the transcript is displayed in search results.
  • Retrieve a media URL to play/download the call: Lets Dash redirect users back to Gong to view the call surfaced in search.
  • Read permission profiles: Lets Dash retrieve permissions data from Gong so that when a user searches, they only see calls they have access to.

How content syncing works

  • Content sync starts right after the connection is made, so you can quickly search for the most relevant data.
  • Dash syncs your Gong data daily. The amount of time it takes to complete the full sync depends on the volume of data (calls) you have in your Gong instance.

Overview of setup

Step 1: Create a new admin service account in Gong

Step 2: Connect Gong to Dropbox Dash using the service account

How to create a new admin service account in Gong

Before connecting Dropbox Dash to Gong, we strongly recommend setting up a dedicated Gong service account. This improves security and helps avoid potential disruptions—like if an administrator leaves the company. This service account should be a non-human, admin-level account explicitly created for Dash integration and assigned the technical administrator role. Make sure it’s not tied to any individual user.
