If you're having trouble uploading a file of your signature, here are a couple pointers you can follow to make it work:
Good contrast
First, make sure the image you save has good contrast. If the image is dark and the signature is light, when it's uploaded to Dropbox Sign the program will either make the whole image too dark or too light.
Make sure the image has as bright a white background as possible. Sign with black ink, since we do not support color signatures yet.
Cropped image
Make sure the image is cropped before uploading to Dropbox Sign. Do not scan and save the entire page as an image. This means that when you scale a image sized 8x12 inches with your signature on it, when we upload it to the preview on Dropbox Sign it will show up very tiny.
If you try and crop the signature from there, the resolution will likely be too low to produce a good image. Instead, right after you scan your signature, crop the image in the scan preview before you save.
High image quality and accepted file types
Scan and save the image file with at least 300 dpi. The higher the quality of image, the better. Accepted image files are: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .bmp, and .gif.
Can I edit my signature further after uploading it into Dropbox Sign?
We provide quick and easy editing capabilities to refine your signature once you do upload the image file.
There is a contrast slider bar above the preview you can use to make thick or blotchy images lighter, or thin, light signatures more robust.
There are rotate buttons beneath the preview in case the file was reoriented when uploaded.
And finally, you can drag your mouse across the preview to create a bounding box around the signature. Once you click Save, this will crop the size of the signature to the bounding box.
