Admins: How to resolve common connection errors
Error: OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC
Step 1: Check whether the app is installed
- In Salesforce, click Setup.
- Search for and click Connected Apps OAuth Usage.
- Locate the Dropbox Dash connected app.
- If Install appears in the “Action” column, the app isn’t installed.
Step 2: Install the connected app (recommended)
- Click Install for the Dropbox Dash app.
- Review the installation details.
- Click Install again to confirm.
Step 3: Control who can use the app
- Click Setup, then search for Manage Connected Apps.
- Open Dropbox Dash, then click Edit.
- Under OAuth Policies, set Permitted Users to one of the following:
- Admin approved users are pre-authorized (recommended).
- All users may self-authorize.
- If using admin-approved users, grant access through the appropriate profiles or permission sets.
- Save your changes.
Step 4: Verify installer permissions (for install or testing)
- In Setup, click Users, then open Profiles (or use Permission Sets).
- Open the profile or permission set used by the installer or tester.
- Enable Approve Uninstalled Connected Apps.
- Save your changes.
Step 5: Retry the connection
Have the user retry the Salesforce connection steps in Dropbox Dash.
