This article describes a feature available to all Dropbox Dash users.

You can add your Salesforce account to Dropbox Dash to easily access and search features such as accounts, contacts, leads, and reports right within Dash.

This requires OAuth authentication to ensure Dash only retrieves information relevant to your data, giving you full control over what Dash can access.

Requirements

To add Salesforce to Dash, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Admin approval: If Salesforce isn’t listed in your Apps, contact your admin. Learn more about admin approval.
  • Authorization: You must authorize Dash in Salesforce.
  • Active account: You need an active account with Salesforce.

Integration features

For Salesforce, Dash captures the following details:

  • Accounts: Organizations or persons involved with your organization.
  • Users: Dash ingests user data to help display metadata about the ownership of your Salesforce records.
  • Opportunities: Sales or pending deals.

Notes:

  • Dash users can only search for accounts and opportunities that they own.
  • Dash also retrieves additional search results directly from Salesforce.

API permissions

When adding Salesforce to Dropbox Dash, Dash requests the following authorizations:

  • API: This permission allows Dash to access your Salesforce data so it can retrieve Opportunities and Accounts successfully.
  • ID: This permission allows Dash to confirm your identity in Salesforce and ensures that only the data you have access to is searchable through Dash.
  • Refresh token: This permission allows Dash to keep a continuous connection to Salesforce so your data stays automatically updated.

How content syncing works

  • Content sync starts as soon as you connect so you can start searching while sync is in progress.
  • Dash performs a full sync of your Salesforce content every 7 days and an incremental sync every 8 minutes.
