Overview

If you’ve installed the DocSend Outlook add-in but can't access it, try the troubleshooting steps below.

Outlook add-in requirements

The Dropbox DocSend Outlook add-in requires an Exchange-backed Outlook account to install and run properly. Supported environments include:

  • Microsoft 365 or Exchange online
  • Exchange server 2016 or later

POP and IMAP email accounts aren’t supported for Office add-ins in Outlook.

Some organizations may restrict or disable access Office add-ins through Microsoft admin settings or Exchange configurations. If an add-in isn’t available, contact your IT administrator to confirm Office add-ins are enabled in your environment. For additional details, see Microsoft’s Requirements for running Office Add-ins.

If the add-in still doesn’t appear:

    • In classic Outlook, go to File → Options → Add-ins and check both Disabled items and COM add-ins.
      • Note: Outlook is known to silently disable unstable add-ins.
  • Confirm your organization allows Office add-ins and hasn’t blocked Microsoft AppSource deployments through Microsoft 365 admin policies.
  • Clear your browser cache when updating or removing an add-ins
  • If a legacy COM or VSTO version of the add-in was previously installed, remove it before reinstalling the modern Office add-in from Microsoft AppSource.
  • Ensure you are using a supported version of Outlook, since some legacy add-ins are not supported in the new Outlook for Windows.
