Why is there a time discrepancy in my visit notification for Dropbox DocSend?

In this article

DocSend sends real-time visit notifications shortly after a visitor accesses a link. This notification is a helpful preview into each link visit you receive, and it lets you know right away whether a visitor is engaged with your content.

In some cases, the time spent indicated in the visit notification will be different from the time spent shown in DocSend.

For example, the visit email notification may show time spent as 12 seconds, while the actual visit duration in DocSend is 10 minutes and 35 seconds.

This is because the notification is sent approximately three minutes after the visit is initiated, so it only accounts for time spent viewing the document until the three-minute mark. In this time, it’s possible that the visitor navigated away from the document and then returned to it later.

Again, the visit notification is meant to be a preview of the visitor’s engagement, so for the full, up-to-date visit data, you should always click the View all stats link or go directly to DocSend to analyze visit data.
