How to add Google Calendar to Dropbox Dash

 This article describes a feature available to all Dropbox Dash users.


You can add your Google Calendar account to Dropbox Dash so you can access and search your Google Calendar content directly within Dash. 

This requires requires OAuth authentication to ensure Dash only retrieves information relevant to your data, giving you full control over what Dash can access. Dash strictly follows the OAuth model, meaning it only accesses the data you specifically permit.

Requirements

To add Google Calendar to Dash, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Admin approval: The app must be enabled by your Dash admin. If Google Calendar isn’t listed in your Apps, contact your admin.
  • Authorization: You must authorize Dash in Google Calendar.
  • Active account: You need an active account with Google Calendar.

Integration features

For Google Calendar, Dash captures the following details:

  • Events: Dash gathers basic event information such as date, event title, location, and attendee list to power event search and the calendar widget.
  • Contacts: Dash gathers basic contact information such as the contact name, email, and profile image to enhance email and calendar search capabilities.

API permissions

When connecting Google Calendar with Dropbox Dash, Dash requests the following authorizations:

  • View and edit events: This enables Dash to search your calendar events.
  • View and download any calendar you have access to: This enables Dash to search through all the calendars you have access to.

How content syncing works

  • Content sync starts right after the connection is made, so you can quickly search for the most relevant data
  • Incremental sync occurs every 15 minutes.

How to add your Google Calendar account to Dropbox Dash

To add Google Calendar to Dropbox Dash:

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.
  3. Locate Google Calendar in the apps list.
  4. Click  (add) to the right of Google Calendar.
  5. Enter your login credentials, or select an account to connect to Dash.
  6. Review the permissions requested, then click Allow.

How to remove your Google Calendar account from Dropbox Dash

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.
  3. Locate Google Calendar in the apps list.
  4. Click  (more options) to the right of Google Calendar.
  5. Click Disconnect.
  6. Click Disconnect in the pop-up window.     
  • Note: You can reconnect the app anytime.

How to check your added apps

To check what apps you’ve added to Dropbox Dash:

  1. Log in to dash.ai.
  2. Click Apps near the bottom of the left sidebar.

You’ll see a list of your added apps in the Added section, along with their connection status.

Admins: How to add Google Calendar for your team

Before your team members can add their Google Calendar accounts to Dropbox Dash, you’ll need to enable it in the admin console. To do this:

  1. Log in to dash.ai using your admin credentials.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the lower left.
  3. Select Admin console.
  4. Click Apps.
  5. Click the More apps tab. 
  6. Click  Add to the right of Google Calendar.
  7. Click Enable Google Calendar in the pop-up window.

You’ll see a notification that says Google Calendar was enabled.
