This article describes features available to all Dropbox Dash customers.

Dropbox Dash includes search capabilities and Chat to help you quickly find content and engage more deeply with projects and information. Search is optimized for fast retrieval, while Chat is designed for deeper exploration and collaboration.

When to use Chat

Dash Chat is a dynamic chat box feature that helps you interact with your content in a conversational flow, ask follow-up questions, add further context, and prompt Dash to draft actionable content from your chat.

Use Chat when you want to:

  • Summarize a project brief
  • Identify action items from a document
  • Ask follow-up questions about content
  • Generate responses or written content based on your files

The Dash chat box appears across all surfaces at the top of the start page. Just type your question or prompt into the chat box and click arrow-up (Send).

To focus or expand your query, you can attach resources, search the web or only your content, adjust the AI model, and more, directly within the chat box.

Use search when you want to:

  • Find a project brief you worked on last week
  • Look for a message, file, or document by keyword
  • Filter results by app or content type
  • Discover where content is stored

The predictive type feature within search pulls relevant content from across your connected apps to the top of your search, helping you find what you need quickly.
