How to open Dash

You can open Dash in a full, resizable app window that stays open while you work, or as a quick search that gives you quick access to your Dash search bar, upcoming meetings, and recently opened files.

Here are ways to open Dash:

The desktop app:

Right click the ① Dash icon in the task bar and select Show Dash.
Open the full app from your list of installed applications or programs, just like you would with any other app.
Press control-shift-e.

The quick search:

Right click the ① Dash icon in the task bar and select Quick search.
Press control-e.

The full desktop app:

Right click the ① Dash icon on the left side of the menu bar and select Show Dash.
Open the full app from your list of installed applications or programs, just like you would with any other app.
Press command-shift-e.

The quick search:

Right click the ① Dash icon in the task bar and select Quick search.
Press command-e.

The desktop app stays open until you close it by quitting or clicking the X button. You can close the quick search by clicking anywhere outside of the quick search window.

The full Dash desktop app displays a search bar at the top of the window, similar to the web experience. Using the desktop app, you can:

Search all your content, including files, apps, and recent activity.
Start a chat to get quick answers to your questions.

The Dash quick search displays a search bar, as well as your recently opened items, and suggested questions based on your content.

You can move the quick search window anywhere on your screen and across multiple monitors.
