How to upload Motion Photos and Live Photos to Dropbox
The information in this article applies to all Dropbox users.
You can securely upload, store, view, download, and share Android Motion Photos and iOS Live Photos on the Dropbox mobile app.
Note: You can also view and share Motion Photos and Live Photos on dropbox.com. This option is currently only available on computers using the Google Chrome browser.
How to upload Motion Photos on Android
You can upload and share Motion Photos via the Dropbox mobile app.
Note: To access this feature, make sure your Dropbox mobile app is updated to the latest version.
To upload your Motion Photos:
- Open the Dropbox mobile app.
- Tap ☑ (add).
- Tap Upload photos and videos.
- Select a Motion Photo from your Android Gallery.
- Motion Photos will look like regular photos when selected, but they’ll be uploaded in the correct format.
- Tap the down arrow and select where you’d like your Motion Photo to be added.
- Tap Set location.
- Tap ☑ (upload).
Note: You can also upload Motion Photos to Dropbox using your camera app.
How to share Motion Photos
To share your Motion Photos with others, you can create and share a link, invite them to a file folder, or send directly through your preferred sharing method.
How to upload Live Photos on iOS
You can upload and share Live Photos via the Dropbox mobile app.
Notes:
- To access this feature, make sure your Dropbox mobile app is updated to the latest version.
- Camera uploads aren’t available on the Dropbox mobile app for iOS.
To upload your Live Photos:
- Open the Dropbox mobile app.
- Tap ☑ (add).
- Tap Upload photos.
- Select a Live Photo from your iOS photo gallery.
- To save your Live photo as a still image, tap Live on under “Image preferences” and select Still image. To change it back, tap Live off and select Live photo.
- If your Live Photo’s file type is HEIC, you can convert it to JPG by tapping Save as JPG under “Image preferences.”
- Tap the folder where’d you like the Live Photo to be added.
- Tap ☑ (upload).
Note: To preview a Live Photo, tap the play button on the Live Photo or press and hold the Live Photo.
