The Dropbox app for ChatGPT app allows you to access your Dropbox files, use them in conversations, and save your results directly to Dropbox. You can easily turn your AI-generated content into real files that can be shared and organized in your Dropbox account.

Note: The Dropbox app for ChatGPT follows your existing Dropbox permissions and team policies. ChatGPT can only access files you’re allowed to view or use. You can manage your access or disconnect Dropbox from ChatGPT at any time.

How to connect your Dropbox account to ChatGPT

To connect your Dropbox account to ChatGPT:

  1. Open ChatGPT and click Apps in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Dropbox and click Connect.
  3. Click Continue to Dropbox.
  4. Click Allow.
    • Note: If you have paired Dropbox accounts, select the account you’d like to connect, and then click Allow.
  5. Log in to your Dropbox account.

How to use the Dropbox app for ChatGPT

To use Dropbox features directly in ChatGPT:

  1. Open ChatGPT.
  2. Click   in the prompt box.
  3. Click   More, and select Dropbox.

What you can do with the Dropbox app for ChatGPT

You can ask ChatGPT to:

  • Summarize or analyze your files and folders in Dropbox: ChatGPT can securely access supported files, including PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Save generated content to Dropbox: Save your results, such as briefs, summaries, or drafts, directly to your Dropbox account, turning chat responses into durable files.
    • Note: ChatGPT can only save your results into text-based files. Supported file types are:
      • .txt
      • .md
      • .csv
      • .json
      • .xml
  • Generate Dropbox share links: Create view-only or edit links directly in the chat, so you can quickly share your work with others.
  • Preview your Dropbox files: Preview your Dropbox files directly in the chat. ChatGPT can show you a preview of your files through a view-only link. You can then choose to copy the view-only link, or open it in Dropbox.

Security and permissions

The Dropbox app for ChatGPT follows your existing Dropbox permissions and team policies.

  • ChatGPT can only access files you’re authorized to view or use.
  • Existing sharing settings and permissions remain unchanged.
  • Team policies and admin controls remain unchanged.

You and your team can use ChatGPT with Dropbox while maintaining control over file access and data.

You can manage your access or disconnect Dropbox from ChatGPT at any time. To disconnect Dropbox from ChatGPT:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Apps.
  5. Click the arrow next to ChatGPT.
  6. Click Disconnect.
