How to get more storage space on your Dropbox account
This article applies to customers on Dropbox Plus, Professional, Essentials, Standard, Advanced, Business, or Business Plus plans, and to certain types of admins on Dropbox team accounts.
The number of files you can store in Dropbox is limited by the amount of storage space in your Dropbox account. If you’re running out of storage space in your Dropbox account, there are several things you can do. You can either:
- Earn free space
- Upgrade your account
- Purchase more space
If you aren’t sure how much space you have left in your Dropbox account, learn how to check your storage space.
How to increase Dropbox storage space for free
Dropbox Basic offers 2 GB of starting storage space for free. To earn free storage space, you can refer your friends, family, and coworkers.
Note: Sharing a folder doesn't count as a referral.
How to upgrade your account
If you have a Dropbox Basic account, you can upgrade to Dropbox Plus to get 2 TB of storage space. For 3 TB of storage space, you can upgrade to Dropbox Professional or Essentials.
If you have a Dropbox Plus, Professional, or Essentials account and work with two or more colleagues, you may want to consider upgrading to a Dropbox team account, which starts at 5 TB of storage space.
How to purchase storage space add-ons
Customers on the following Dropbox plans can purchase additional storage space in 1 TB increments, up to a maximum of 1,000 TB:
- Dropbox Plus
- Dropbox Professional
- Dropbox Essentials
- Dropbox Standard
- Dropbox Advanced
- Dropbox Business
- Dropbox Business Plus
Notes:
- If you’re on Dropbox Standard, Advanced, Business, or Business Plus, your admin must purchase the additional storage space for the team, and the storage space is pooled for the entire team.
- If you’re on Dropbox Standard, Advanced, Business, or Business Plus, the 1,000 TB limit includes the storage space included for each actively used license.
- If you purchased your Dropbox subscription through a reseller, you can only purchase storage packs through your reseller.
