How to get more storage space on your Dropbox account
This article describes a feature available to customers on Dropbox Plus, Professional, Essentials, Standard, Advanced, Business, or Business Plus plans, and to certain types of admins on Dropbox team accounts.
There are several things you can do if you need more space on your Dropbox account.
How to increase Dropbox storage space for free
To earn free storage space, you can refer your friends, family, and coworkers.
Note: Sharing a folder doesn't count as a referral.
Upgrade your account
If you have a Dropbox Basic account, you can upgrade to Dropbox Plus to get 2 TB of storage space. For 3 TB of storage space, you can upgrade to Dropbox Professional or Essentials.
If you have a Plus or Professional account and work with two or more colleagues, you may want to consider upgrading to a Dropbox team account, which starts at 5 TB of storage space.
Purchase storage space add-ons
Dropbox admins on a Standard, Advanced, Business, or Business Plus account, can purchase additional storage space in 1 TB increments only, up to a maximum of 1,000 TB (including space allocated from users/licenses). This additional storage space is pooled for the entire team.
Plus, Professional, or Essentials users can do a one-time purchase of 1 TB storage.
Note: If you purchased your dropbox license through a reseller, you can only purchase storage packs through your reseller.
To purchase additional storage space as a team admin:
- Log in to dropbox.com using your admin credentials.
- Click Admin console.
- Click Billing in the left side bar.
- Click Add next to 1 TB Storage under Add-ons.
- Select how much storage space you’d like to add.
- Click Confirm and add.
To purchase your one-time 1 TB add-on as a user on Dropbox Plus, Professional, or Essentials:
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Go to dropbox.com/manage.
- Click Add-ons.
- Select the 1 TB storage add-on and purchase.
Your purchase will go into effect immediately, and you’ll be charged a pro-rated amount until your next billing cycle. You'll then be billed based on your subscription period.
For example, if you have an annual billing cycle, you can only purchase annual storage space add-ons. You can view your storage pack price on your billing page.
