How to use Dropbox Paper on a mobile device
Dropbox Paper is an online document workspace designed for creative work. It allows you to collaborate in real-time, assign tasks, make to-do lists, and much more.
You can create a Paper doc from your Dropbox account on dropbox.com, the Dropbox mobile app, or the Dropbox Paper mobile app. Our Dropbox Paper mobile apps are available on both iOS and Android devices.

What features does the Dropbox Paper mobile app offer?
The Dropbox Paper mobile app enables you to:
- Edit existing Paper docs, and create new ones
- Receive push notifications
- Access offline docs
- Quick search
- Share docs directly from the app
How do I share a doc from the Paper mobile app?
To share a doc from the Paper app for Android:
- Open a doc.
- Tap the share icon (two people).
- Type the email or name of the person you’d like to share your doc with.
- Tap the send icon (paper airplane).
To share a doc from the Paper app for iPhone and iPad:
- Open a doc.
- Tap “…”
- Tap Invite people.
- Type the email or name of the person you’d like to share your doc with.
- Tap Send.
Can I edit my docs offline using the Paper mobile app?
Yes, offline editing is available for any doc that you've previously accessed in the Paper mobile app.
You can read, edit, and comment without an internet connection. Changes sync with Paper when you come back online. When you work offline, you'll see a banner on your doc that says No internet connection (Android) or View and edit offline (iOS).
Where can I see all my notifications?
All notifications you receive from your Paper mobile app are visible in the Notifications tab.
How do I organize Paper docs into folders from my mobile device?
On the Paper mobile apps, you can browse your folders, search your folders by name, and access all folder contents. You can also add docs to a folder. To do so:
- Open a doc.
- Tap “⋮” (vertical ellipsis on Android) or "…" (ellipsis on iPhone/iPad) in the top right.
- Tap Move.
- Select the folder you'd like to move the doc to.
On the Paper app for Android, you can also create and rename folders.
How to create folders on the Paper app for Android
- Tap Browse (Paper icon) on the top left.
- Tap Folders from the dropdown menu.
- Tap the new folder icon (blue folder) in the bottom right.
- Type a name for the folder.
- Tap the checkmark in the top right.
How to rename a folder on the Paper app for Android
- Tap Browse (Paper icon) on the top left.
- Tap Folders from the dropdown menu.
- Select the folder to rename.
- Tap “⋮” (vertical ellipsis) in the top right.
- Tap Rename.
- Type a new name for the folder.
- Tap the checkmark in the top right.
Note: You can't create or rename folders on the Paper app for iOS
How do I switch between work and personal accounts on the Paper mobile app?
If you’ve linked two Dropbox accounts, you can toggle between them in the Paper mobile app. To do so:
- Open the Paper mobile app.
- Tap the Account tab (person icon).
- Tap the account name that you want to switch to.
Note: If you don't see the account you want to switch to, you'll first need to connect your second account (personal or work) by tapping Add account.
