Sync & storage dashboard on the Dropbox desktop app: an overview

Note: The Sync & storage dashboard is available only on the Dropbox desktop app. This feature is not available on dropbox.com and in the simplified version of the Dropbox desktop app.

The Sync & storage dashboard on the Dropbox desktop app is designed to help you easily identify file syncing issues and monitor hard drive space on your device. This dashboard provides an overview of your current sync status, hard drive usage and any issues that might be happening, and it allows you to resolve them quickly and effectively.

How to open the Sync & storage dashboard

To open the Sync & storage dashboard:

1. Click ☑ (Dropbox) in your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac).
2. Click the round account menu. Depending on your account, this may appear as your profile photo, your initials, or a person icon. 
3. Click Sync & storage.

What can I do on the Sync & storage dashboard

On the Sync & storage dashboard, you can:

• View sync status: Get a real-time overview of your current file syncing progress, including any files that are syncing, paused, or encountering issues.
• Resolve potential sync issues: See and resolve any sync issues that might be happening.
• Monitor and manage Dropbox storage usage: See and manage how much storage you’re using on Dropbox, with a clear overview of files available offline, online-only files, files hidden with selective sync, and other Dropbox content (such as Dropbox Backups, or Dropbox Replay files).
• Monitor and manage hard drive usage: See and manage how much hard drive space Dropbox is using on your device.
• Manage file syncing for your device: Manage selective sync on your device. Learn more about selective sync.
• Choose how you store your files: Access and manage your default sync preferences.
