How to add conditional logic in Dropbox Sign

Conditional logic is available to Dropbox Sign users on a Premium plan.

Conditional logic allows you to create rules, or conditions, that change which fields appear on a document based on input from a signer. For example, you could use conditional logic to set up your document so that if a signer checks a checkbox, a dropdown field will appear. You can add conditional logic to signature requests and templates.

Before you create a conditional logic rule, you’ll need to choose a trigger field and selected fields. The trigger field, when completed by the signer, will trigger the selected fields to appear or remain hidden. In the example above, the checkbox is the trigger field and the dropdown is the selected field.

To create a conditional logic rule:

1. Follow the instructions to send a signature request on hellosign.com until you get to the document editor.
2. Click and drag the fields you’d like to add from the left sidebar to your document.
   • Note: The trigger field and selected fields have to be assigned to the same signer. You can’t set up a trigger field that, when completed by one signer, triggers fields for another signer.
3. Click the field you’d like to use as a trigger field.
4. Click Create Rule under Conditional Logic in the right sidebar.
5. Click the dropdown below If the following is true... and select a condition for your trigger field.
6. Click and drag the fields you’d like to use as selected fields from the document to the area below then Show/Hide the following field(s).
7. Click the dropdown next to then and select whether you want to show or hide the selected fields based on the condition you set for the trigger field.
8. Click Done, and continue sending your signature request as usual.
