Extended version history overview

Your default version history depends on the Dropbox plan you have. However, you can extend your version history by purchasing one of our add-ons. See what add-ons are available for your plan below.

Dropbox Plus

Customers on Dropbox Plus can get 1-year version history with the Extended Version History Add-on. 

Note: The Extended Version History Add-on isn’t available to customers who purchase Dropbox Plus through Google Play or the App Store.

To purchase or remove the add-on:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the upper right corner.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click the Plan tab.
  5. Under Available add-ons, click Add or Remove next to Extended Version History.
  6. Click Confirm.

When you purchase the add-on, you’ll be charged at a prorated amount for your current billing period. At the start of your next billing period, you’ll be charged for the full amount of the add-on, in addition to your subscription cost.

When you remove the add-on, your selection will go into effect on your next renewal.

Dropbox Standard, Advanced, or Enterprise

Customers on Dropbox Standard, Advanced, or Enterprise can get 10-year version history with either the Extended Version History Add-On or the Data Governance Add-On. To purchase or remove either of these add-ons, do one of the following:

If you don’t have a dedicated sales executive, your team can purchase or remove the Extended Version History Add-On in the admin console. To do this:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Billing.
  4. Click the Manage plan tab.
  5. Under Available add-ons, click Add or Remove next to 10-Year Extended Version History.
  6. Click Confirm.

When you purchase the add-on, you’ll be charged at a prorated amount for your current billing period. At the start of your next billing period, you’ll be charged for the full amount of the add-on, in addition to your subscription cost.

When you remove the add-on, your selection will go into effect on your next renewal.
