Search for Dropbox Paper docs

You can search for your Paper docs, and any docs that have been shared with you, using the search bar in Dropbox Paper.
Note: If you’re using the 2020 release of Dropbox Paper, you can find your docs with the search bar in Dropbox.

The search bar searches the full text of Paper docs. To find any available doc, you can search for:

  • The title or name of a doc
  • The content within a doc
  • The name of a team member, to see all the docs they've created

To access search:

  1. Click the search icon (magnifying glass) in any doc.
  2. Begin typing in the search bar. All matching docs will be displayed.

How to search for text within a Paper doc

You can also search for specific words or phrases within an open Paper doc.

To search in docs on the web:

  1. Type control-F (Windows) or command-F (Mac).
  2. Type the word or phrase into the search bar.

To search in docs on the iPhone/iPad Paper app:

  1. Tap "" (ellipsis) in the top right.
  2. Tap Find in doc.
  3. Type the word or phrase in the search bar.

To search in docs on the Android Paper app:

  1. Tap “” (vertical ellipsis) in the top right.
  2. Tap Search in doc.
  3. Type the word or phrase in the search bar.

How to use hashtags as labels for search

You can make search more powerful by using hashtags in your docs. Hashtags are clickable within a doc, and you can use search to find all available docs that contain the same hashtag.

For example, type "#dogs" anywhere in your document. Then, to use this hashtag in search, type the hashtag and keyword in the search bar (in this case "#dogs"). The results show all available docs containing that hashtag.
