How to connect the Dropbox desktop app to a proxy server

The information in this article applies to all Dropbox users, unless otherwise stated.
You can connect the Dropbox desktop app to a proxy server, in your desktop app preferences.
Windows
To connect the Dropbox desktop app to a proxy server on a Windows computer:
- Click the Dropbox icon in your taskbar.
- Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the upper-right corner.
- Click Preferences.
- Click the Network tab.
- Choose your preferred proxy setting:
- If you’d like Dropbox to automatically detect proxy settings or use the default settings, ensure the Custom Proxy settings toggle is off
- If you’d like to enter the proxy settings yourself, toggle the Custom proxy settings on, and then follow these steps:
- In the Proxy setting menu:
- Select No proxy to ignore all proxy servers
- Select Manual to connect to a new proxy server and enter the server details in the remaining fields.
- Note: Enabling Proxy server requires a password.
- In the Proxy setting menu:
Mac
To connect the Dropbox desktop app to a proxy server on a Mac computer:
- Click the Dropbox icon in your menu bar.
- Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the upper-right corner.
- Click Preferences.
- Click the Network tab.
