This article describes a feature available to customers on Dropbox Basic, Plus, Professional, and Essentials.
If you log in to your Dropbox account with Sign in with Apple, you can access your account using your Apple ID without having to remember a Dropbox password.
To access an existing Dropbox account, click Sign in with Apple. This feature is available on dropbox.com, the Dropbox mobile app, and the Dropbox desktop app.
Note: To use this feature, the email address associated with your Apple ID must match the email address you use to log in to Dropbox. Learn how to change the email address associated with your Dropbox account.
Your new Dropbox account is now created and connected to your Apple ID.
If your app crashes mid-sign up, follow these instructions again to complete the sign up process.
Apple allows you to sign up for third-party sites like Dropbox without sharing your email address using the Hide My Email feature.
If you choose to enable Hide My Email when you create a new Dropbox account, Apple will generate a random email address using the domain @privaterelay.appleid.com.
Anything sent to that email address will automatically be forwarded to the email address associated with your Apple ID. However, this means that if you disable email forwarding, you won’t be able to receive emails from Dropbox.
Note: To change or deactivate your Hide My Email preferences on Dropbox, update the settings on your Apple device.
To add your real email address to your Dropbox account:
If you created your Dropbox account using Sign in with Apple, Dropbox doesn’t have a password on record for your account.
However, to perform certain actions in Dropbox, you'll need to set a password for added security and privacy. Once you set a Dropbox password, you'll still be able to use Sign in with Apple to access your account.
