This article describes a feature available to customers on Dropbox Plus, Professional, Essentials, Standard, Advanced, Business, or Business Plus plans and to certain types of admins on Dropbox team accounts.

This article explains how to check the amount of storage space you have left in your Dropbox account.

The fastest way to check how much storage space you have left in your Dropbox account is in the Account section of dropbox.com:

If you've run out of storage space in your Dropbox Basic account, consider upgrading to Dropbox Plus or Professional.

How to check your account space

To check your available storage space:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the upper right.
  3. Click Manage account.
  4. Click Subscriptions in the left sidebar.
  5. Check the bar under Personal Dropbox space. This shows the combination of regular and shared files in your account and unused space.
    • Regular files: The sum of space used by files and folders in your account that aren’t shared.
    • Shared files: The sum of space used by shared files and folders that you’ve joined.

Notes:

  • Shared folders that aren't joined don't count towards your used space.
  • Family plans show a bar of all the space your family is using, and you can click the arrow next to Everyone else’s files to see how much storage space each family member is using.

Dropbox Basic users can also check their available storage at the bottom of the left sidebar. To do this:

  1. Check the blue, yellow, or red box in the bottom left corner.
  2. Click “^” (up arrow icon) to expand the menu and see how much space you’ve used and how much you have left for each feature.
  3. Scroll down to view more features and click the button next to one of the following features to open it:
    • Upload anything
    • Sign documents
    • Record video
    • Review media
    • Edit PDFs
    • Edit images
    • Edit video

If you see the Upgrade for more button, click it to add more storage space by upgrading to a different Dropbox plan.
