How to manage third-party apps on Dropbox

A third-party app is any non-Dropbox application on your computer, phone, or tablet. Examples include apps used to sign documents, like DocuSign, or apps used to edit pictures, like Adobe. 

You can connect third-party apps to both your individual and business Dropbox accounts. 

Dropbox is not responsible for apps developed and offered by other companies. We recommend that you review each app’s terms of use and privacy policies before granting it access to your Dropbox account.

How to connect third-party apps to your Dropbox account

Dropbox doesn't provide instructions for installation of third-party apps. To install a third-party app on Dropbox, follow the instructions provided by the third party. 

What access will the third-party app have to my Dropbox account?

When you link an app to Dropbox, the app will have access to your basic account information, such as your registered email address. It may also request access to:

  • A specific folder in your Dropbox account. The app can only access files in that folder.
  • All folders and files in your Dropbox account.

How to disconnect a third-party app from your Dropbox account

If at any point you wish to disconnect an app from your account, you can do so in your account settings.

  1. Sign in to
  2. Click your avatar
  3. Click Settings
  4. Click Connected apps
  5. Scroll to the Linked apps section
  6. Click X next to the app you’d like to disconnect
