Upgrade to Dropbox Family on a mobile device

The information in this article applies to all Dropbox Family plans.

Dropbox Family is a plan with 2 TB of storage space that can be shared by up to 6 members, ages 13 and older. If you have the option to upgrade to Dropbox Family on the Dropbox mobile app, you can purchase, manage, and cancel the plan through the app.

Note: The person who purchases Dropbox Family is the Family manager. The Family manager can access family membership and billing information from their Dropbox account settings on dropbox.com and the Dropbox mobile app.

Purchase Dropbox Family on a mobile device

To upgrade to Dropbox Family on an iPhone/iPad:

  1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.
  2. Tap the person icon.
  3. Tap Upgrade.
  4. Select Family.
  5. Choose a billing period and tap Continue.
  6. Confirm payment details on the App Store.
  7. Follow the steps to invite others to join the plan. People you invite will receive a notification in their email or the Dropbox app, if they already have a Dropbox account.

Note: Dropbox Family is not currently available for purchase from the Google Play store on Android devices.

Cancel Dropbox Family on a mobile device

The Family manager can cancel their subscription at any time. If you purchased Dropbox Family through the Dropbox mobile app for iOS, you’ll need to cancel through the App Store or iTunes Store.

Leave a Dropbox Family plan on a mobile device

Members of a Family plan can leave the plan at any time. To leave a Family plan on the Dropbox mobile app:

  1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.
  2. Tap your avatar (person icon) or open your account settings.
    • On Android, tap the menu icon (horizontal lines) in the top left and then tap Settings.
    • On iPhone/iPad, tap the account icon (person) in the bottom right, and then tap the gear icon in the top left.
  3. Tap Manage plan next to your name.
  4. Tap your name on the list of Family members.
  5. Tap Leave Family plan.
