This article only applies to users who are using the Dropbox badge, and haven’t enabled Microsoft co-authoring. If you’ve enabled co-authoring, the badge will no longer appear.

For more information on co-authoring, visit this article.

You can share a link to a copy of your file right from the Dropbox badge, even as you're working.

To share a link to a copy of your file:

  1. Click on the Dropbox badge.
  2. From the pop-out window, click Copy Dropbox Link.

The link will be copied, and you can immediately paste it into emails, instant messages, blog posts, or wherever you'd like people to access the file copy.

Links created from the Dropbox badge aren't password protected and don't have an expiration date. Customers on Dropbox Professional and Dropbox team accounts can open the link they've created from the Dropbox badge and can set a password or set an expiration date for the link.

You can remove a link at any time. To remove a link:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click All files in the left sidebar.
    • You can also click Folders in the left navigation bar to locate your file.
  3. In the list view, hover over the name of the file or folder you’re having issues with and click the share icon (rectangle with up arrow).
    • If you’re in grid view, hover over the file or folder you’re having issues with, click “” (vertical ellipsis), select Share, and select Share with Dropbox.
      •  Note: You can view pages in a document, scrub through a video, or flip through the contents of a folder without opening it. To do so, make sure you’re using grid layout, then move your cursor horizontally across the file or folder.
  4. Click Settings or the gear icon in the top right.
  5. Click either Link for editing or Link for viewing depending on which link you'd like to remove.
  6. Click Delete link.
  7. Click Delete.
