This article is for Dropbox users on the old release of Dropbox Paper.
To find out if you’re using the old or new release of Dropbox Paper:
- Sign in to dropbox.com.
- Click Create.
- Hover over Document.
If you don’t see Dropbox Paper in the list of document types, then you’re using the old release.
If you do see Dropbox Paper in the list of document types, then you’re using the new 2020 release of Dropbox Paper.
If you’re using the 2020 release of Dropbox Paper, your Paper docs can be shared just like regular files in Dropbox. Learn how to share files in Dropbox through email or learn how to share files with a link.
There are two ways to share Dropbox Paper docs with other people:
- By using the Invite button at the top of the doc
- By sending a link to the doc
How to share a Paper doc
- Open the Paper doc you want to share.
- Click the blue Invite button at the top of the doc.
- Type the email address of the person or people you want to share with. You have the option to include a message.
- Click Can edit to choose the permissions access you'd like invitees to have:
- Can comment allows others to leave comments on your content
- Can edit allows others to directly add to, edit, or delete your content, and to invite others to the doc
- Click Send.
How to share by sending a link
By default, whoever has the link you share will be able to edit your file.
- Open the Paper doc you want to share.
- Click the Copy link button (chain icon) at the top of the doc.
- Paste the link into an email, chat message, or text.
