This article describes a feature available to all individual Dropbox users. This feature isn’t available on team accounts.
You can copy files and folders from Google Drive to your Dropbox account. This feature is only available on dropbox.com.
How to import files from Google Drive to Dropbox
To copy files from your Google account to dropbox.com:
- Sign in to dropbox.com.
- Click “…” (ellipsis).
- Click Add from Google Drive. A pop-up window will display files and folders in your Google account.
- If prompted, allow Dropbox access to your Google account.
- Click on the file or folder that you’d like to upload to Dropbox.
- To upload an entire folder, click the Folders tab. Then, select the folder you’d like to upload.
- Notes:
- You can use the dropdown in the search bar to filter different types of files.
- You can select multiples files and folders by clicking and dragging your cursor, or by clicking while holding down ctrl (Windows) or alt (Mac) on your keyboard.
- When the folder tab is selected, double clicking a folder won’t show the files contained within that folder.
- Click Select.
- Check any of the appropriate checkboxes to manage how Google Drive files are organized in your Dropbox account. You can choose to:
- Keep folder structure: When the checkbox next to this option is checked, the uploaded files will be organised in the same folder structure they’re organized in in Google Drive. This means that if you select a file that is organized into a folder and parent folder, the file, folder, and parent folder will show in your Dropbox account. However, only the files you select will be uploaded in your Dropbox account, not all the files that exist within these folders in your Google Drive.
- Overwrite files with same name: When the box next to this option is checked, files you upload from Google Drive will replace existing Dropbox files with the same name.
- Delete files from source: When the box next to this option is checked, the files or folders that you upload from Google Drive will be deleted in Google Drive after they’re uploaded to Dropbox.
- Click Upload.
You’ll receive an email that confirms the upload.
