How to remove a link to a file or folder

Removing a link immediately disables that link to your file or folder. Anyone who tries to click a disabled link will get an error message. If you want to share a link to your file or folder again, you can create a new link at any time.

On dropbox.com

There are two ways to remove a link to a file or folder on dropbox.com.

From the Files page:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click Files.
  3. Locate the file or folder that you want to remove the link from.
  4. Hover over the file or folder and click Share.
  5. Click Link settings.
  6. Click Delete link.

From the Sharing page:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click Files.
  3. Click Sharing.
  4. Click the Links tab.
  5. Click "" (ellipsis) next to the file or folder that you want to remove the link from, and select Delete link.

On your computer

To remove a link to a file or folder on your computer:

  1. Open the Dropbox folder on your computer
  2. Right-click the file or folder that you want to remove the link from.
  3. Click Share.
  4. Click Link settings.
  5. Click Delete link.

On your phone or tablet

To remove a link to a file or folder on your phone or tablet:

  1. Open the Dropbox app and navigate to the file or folder that you want to remove the link from.
  2. Tap the ... (ellipsis) icon next to the file name.
  3. Tap Share.
  4. Tap the gear icon.
  5. Tap Link Settings.
  6. Tap Delete link.
