How to pin files and folders
Updated Apr 02, 2024
This feature is available to all Dropbox users on dropbox.com.
You can pin a file or folder to another folder on dropbox.com for easy access. Whenever a folder is opened, you can click the settings icon and then Show pinned items to view its pinned files.
When you pin a file or folder, it’s pinned for everyone who has access to that folder. Everyone who has access can pin and unpin that file or folder.
To pin a file or folder on dropbox.com:
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Hover over the name of the file or folder you’d like to pin and click "..." (ellipsis).
- If you’re in grid view, click “⁝” (vertical ellipsis).
To unpin a file or folder on dropbox.com:
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Hover over the name of the file or folder you’d like to unpin and click "..." (ellipsis).
- If you’re in grid view, click “⁝” (vertical ellipsis).
Note: You can view pages in a document, scrub through a video, or flip through the contents of a folder without opening it. To do so, make sure you’re using grid layout, then move your cursor horizontally across the file or folder.
