The information in this article applies to customers on Dropbox Family.

Dropbox Family is a plan with 2 TB of storage space that can be shared by up to 6 members. All Family plan members must be 13 years or older in the United States and 16 or older anywhere else.

The person who purchases Dropbox Family is the Family manager. The Family manager can access family membership and billing information from their Dropbox account settings.

Invite new members

The Family manager can invite new members and check the status of invites.

When a family member joins the plan they will have immediate access to the shared storage space and features of Dropbox Family. If a member had a Dropbox Plus or Professional plan before joining the Family plan, their individual account will be refunded for the prorated cost of their original plan.

If family members don’t already have their own Dropbox account, they can create one when they accept the invitation to join the Family plan.

To invite new members:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com with your Family manager account.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the top-right corner.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Family.
  5. Click Invite Members.
  6. Enter the email address of the family member you want to invite and add a note, if you like.
    • You can also invite family members with a link. To do so, click Get a link instead and share that link with an email or other message.
  7. Click Send Invites.

Once a member accepts your invitation and joins the plan, their name and email address will appear under Your family with their status.
