This article describes a feature available to customers on all DocSend plans.

Zapier enables you to seamlessly integrate thousands of applications with one another, including DocSend. Using triggers called Zaps you can create unique, efficient processes across different apps without the hassle of code or API calls.

The DocSend Zapier integration makes it possible for you to sync visitor and content data to other applications including:

  • Email: Gmail, Outlook
  • CRM: HubSpot, Pipedrive, Copper
  • CSM: Zendesk, Freshdesk
  • Messengers: Slack, Discord
  • Project Management: Trello, Asana
  • Surveys: SurveyMonkey, Typeform
  • Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter

How Zaps work

Zaps consist of two basic elements: triggers and actions.

Triggers are specific events that occur in an app. Zapier monitors for the trigger events you set up, and once they occur, it will execute the actions in your workflow. In DocSend, a trigger could be that a visitor opens a document link.

Actions begin after a trigger event occurs. In the DocSend example, an action that follows the “new visit” trigger may be “add a row to a Google Sheet”. In other words, whenever a DocSend visit occurs, Zapier will add a row of information to a specified Google Sheet.

Zaps can have one trigger and many actions. There are also two types of Zap actions:

  • App actions add or update data in an app, like creating a new row of information in a spreadsheet.
  • App searches look up information that can be used in later actions, like finding a date in a certain spreadsheet.

Note: Zaps can only be created for links you own (create).

DocSend triggers

DocSend currently offers a variety of triggers that you can configure with thousands of different actions across other applications. Here’s a list of DocSend triggers that can prompt actions:

  • New visit: Someone visits a link.
  • New link created: A new link is created.
  • Visitor engagement summary: Someone visits with a link, summarizing total visit time and frequency across visits.
  • New signed document: Someone signs a document (such as an NDA, or an Agreement).
  • New Space created: A new Space is created.
  • New Space downloaded: Someone downloads a Space.
  • New Space visit: Someone visits a Space you’ve created.

Visit the DocSend Zapier integration page to see what you can do with these triggers.

How to create a Zap

You’ll need a Zapier account to start creating Zaps. Learn how to create a Zap.

Once you’re more familiar with the basics of creating a Zap, you can create more complex, multi-step Zaps and automate your workflow even further. For example, you can create a Zap that sends an email notification and a Slack message after someone visits a document.
