Overview

All DocSend users can delete files, folders, and links to free up storage space or remove unwanted content. Deleted files or folders remain in the user’s “Deleted content” folder for 30 days before they’re permanently deleted.

If you have an Enterprise account, contact your DocSend Customer Success Manager (CSM) with questions about content deletion.

Delete files

You can delete files you uploaded to DocSend, as well as files in team folders that you own or have permission to edit. A confirmation message appears before deletion to help prevent accidental removal.

Deleting a file:

  • Deletes and disables all associated links.
  • Deletes all associated visit data.

Individual contact information remains available even after a file, link, or folder is deleted.

To delete a file:

  1. Log in to docsend.com.
  2. Click Content library.
  3. Navigate to the file you want to delete.
  4. Click  (more options).
  5. Select Delete from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click Yes, delete document to confirm.

Delete links

Deleting a link:

  • Deletes associated visit data.
  • Disables visitor access.

To delete a link:

  1. Log in to docsend.com.
  2. Click Content library.
  3. Navigate to the link you want to delete.
  4. Click  (more options).
  5. Select Delete this link from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click OK to confirm.

Delete folders

Deleting a folder removes all files, links, and associated visit data within that folder. Before deleting a folder, review its contents carefully.

  • Personal folders: Only the folder owner can delete personal folders.
  • Team folders: Admins, owners, and members with edit access can delete team folders.

Deleted folders retain their folder structure when they’re moved to the “Deleted content” folder, including all nested items.

To delete a folder:

  1. Log in to docsend.com.
  2. Click Content library.
  3. Navigate to the folder you want to delete.
  4. Click  (more options).
  5. Select Delete from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click Yesdelete folder to confirm.

Restore deleted content

Deleted files or folders remain in the “Deleted content” folder for 30 days, and can be restored during that time before being permanently deleted. Active links and associated analytics however, won't be able to be restored.

Team members can only restore content they personally deleted. Team admins and owners can restore content from deleted team folders, but not from personal folders. When deleted folders are restored, they’re restored to the root level.

To restore deleted files or folders:

  1. Log in to docsend.com.
  2. Click Content library.
  3. Click Deleted content at the bottom of the left sidebar.
  4. Navigate to the content you want to restore.
  5. Click Restore.

Archive content

If you want to delete content while preserving the visit data, create a separate folder titled “Archive” and move the content there instead of deleting it.

Important: Moving content from a team folder to a personal folder deletes associated team links and visit data.
