This article describes a feature available to customers on paid DocSend plans.

To help protect customers and prevent abuse, DocSend may limit sharing activity on paid accounts if elevated spam complaint activity is detected. When sharing is restricted, you won’t be able to create or share new links, or invite people to groups, and visitors will lose access to previously shared content. Your account will need to be reviewed to determine whether access can be restored.

What happens when sharing is restricted

If your account reaches the spam complaint threshold, you may see an error message when trying to share content or invite collaborators.

Restricted users may be unable to:

  • Create new links for content or Spaces.
  • Copy or share existing links.
  • Send group invites.
  • Previously shared content will be restricted for visitors.

You may see messages similar to the following:

  • “Link creation failed. Please read more about our acceptable use policy and contact us at support@docsend.com if you have any questions.”
  • “Operation failed. Please read more about our acceptable use policy and contact us at support@docsend.com if you have any questions.”

Why sharing restrictions happen

Sharing restrictions may be applied after repeated spam complaints or reports of abusive activity associated with your account. This helps protect recipients and maintain trust and safety across Dropbox and DocSend services.

How to restore sharing access

If your account has been restricted and you believe this was done in error, contact support for review.

  1. Contact support at support@docsend.com.
  2. Include details about your account and the activity that triggered the restriction.
  3. Wait for the review process to complete.

Restrictions aren’t automatically removed after a waiting period. Accounts must be reviewed manually to determine whether sharing access can be restored. Learn about DocSend's Terms of Service.
