Using merge fields with the Dropbox Sign for Salesforce integration

During template creation, users have the option of selecting certain fields to merge data. Users should select from the available merge fields of their choice in Step 4 when creating a template. They can also use the search bar to look for a specific field.

Note: Not all fields are compatible with merging data. Only those which are eligible will be displayed.

Any fields which are then not mapped onto the document can cause an error, most commonly “Invalid custom field: (name of missing object)”.

Here is an example error from a template with the Opportunity. Amount field chosen to merge data, but where no corresponding textbox field was dragged onto the document:

If you experience this error, please edit your template per the instructions in our Admin Guide (be sure to use “Edit Template” as opposed to “Edit” or the pencil icon on any of the individual fields) and remove the field as a merge data selection, or, add it into the template by mapping it onto the document.
