Dropbox Sign for Salesforce allows you to send signature requests and templates within Salesforce.

How to get the Dropbox Sign for Salesforce integration?

If you already have a paid Dropbox Sign account, your company would need to have a Dropbox Sign Enterprise plan with Salesforce enabled. This plan is available by contacting Dropbox Sign Sales.

If you have a Free Dropbox Sign account you can install Dropbox Sign for Salesforce to be enrolled automatically in our free, 30-day Dropbox Sign for Salesforce Trial.

Can I use the Dropbox Sign integration on any device?

The Dropbox Sign for Salesforce integration doesn't support iPad, tablet, or other mobile devices. The document editor isn't optimized when creating templates or requesting signatures from within Salesforce. Please contact Dropbox Sign support if you'd like this functionality added to the Dropbox Sign for Salesforce integration.

Can I send documents from Salesforce via SMS?

Yes, customers on API Standard and Premium plans can contact Dropbox Sign Sales to get the SMS Tools Add-on.

With that add-on, you can:

  • Send signature requests and templates by SMS directly from Salesforce.
  • Use SMS authentication to add an extra layer of security to standalone docs and templates.

Note: To use the SMS feature in Salesforce, you need an active Salesforce integration with Dropbox Sign, and an SMS Tools add-on.

How do templates work in Salesforce?

Templates must be created in Salesforce when using the Dropbox Sign for Salesforce integration. Any templates created on sign.dropbox.com or when using the Sign API as a standalone product can't be used in Salesforce. Templates created on Salesforce can be used on dropboxsign.com and the Sign API.

How do I use merge fields with the Dropbox Sign for Salesforce integration?

When creating a template, you have the option of selecting certain fields to merge data. Users should select from the available merge fields of their choice in Step 4 in the template creation flow in Salesforce when creating a template. You can also use the search bar to look for a specific field.

Why am I getting an “Unauthorized API Key” error message?

If you’re seeing the error message “isApiConnected() error Unauthorized API key”, it means that that the API key to your Dropbox Sign account doesn’t match the API key that Salesforce is expecting. You can solve this by reconnecting DropboxSign to Salesforce. To do so:

  1. Log in to sign.dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. On the Dropbox Sign settings tab, click on Connect.
  3. Allow access to the Dropbox Sign integration.

Notes:

  • If you aren’t already logged in at sign.dropbox.com, you’ll see a login page.
  • If you were previously logged in with the correct account, you’ll see a confirmation and will need to click Grant.
  • If the connection was successful, you’ll see a message confirming some things to note.

How do I create Dropbox Sign text tags in Salesforce?

With text tags, you can add Dropbox Sign signature fields and custom fields directly into the source document. Dropbox Sign will detect the text tags in the document and display them correctly for all signers. Common use cases for text tags are when using a third-party document generation tool, or a product like Salesforce CPQ where templates are created using HTML and then converted into PDF documents. The Dropbox Sign API scans your documents automatically, so no extra steps are needed to enable text tags when using the Dropbox Sign for Salesforce integration.

The Dropbox Sign for Salesforce integration supports accounts, contacts, leads, and opportunities out-of-the-box. If you want to use any other Salesforce object, you must configure it first before using it with the Dropbox Sign button, with triggers, or with Apex Global Methods. To configure Salesforce objects, you need to have permission to add fields to objects and layouts.
