How to restrict access to a folder inside a team folder
The feature described in this article is available to customers on Dropbox Standard, Advanced, Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise.
If you create a subfolder inside a team folder, the new folder will automatically have the same members as its parent folder. However, if you don't want specific people to access the new folder, you can restrict access to the folder by removing those team members.
If you’d like to change a member’s level of access to a shared folder instead, from edit to view-only or vice versa, learn how to set shared folder permissions.
Notes:
- You can only restrict access to folders if they’re inside a team folder.
- You can't create a shared link to a restricted folder.
- When you restrict access to a subfolder in a team folder, any new members added to the team folder won’t have access to the restricted folder. However, they may see the restricted folder icon and the name of the folder, depending on which team experience you’re on.
- It’s not possible to fully hide a folder from members who don’t have access.
- If you move files or subfolders out of the team folder other team members will lose access to those files and subfolders.
