How to use the Dropbox Dash desktop app

The Dropbox Dash desktop app offers a convenient way to access various apps, folders, files, and system preferences using a universal search feature. Additionally, you can organize and access all your work, links, emails, and more through stacks. These stacks can be shared internally or externally.
 

How to use Dropbox Dash

Search for your items

Type keywords into the Search Dash bar in your Dash window. You can see your results as you type. The more often you click on a result, the higher it appears on the list.

Note: Dash doesn’t currently support non-English language searches.

Manage your settings

  1. Open Dropbox Dash or bring up the Dash window, if it’s not already open.
  2. Click the avatar (profile picture or initials) in the bottom left.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Select from the following options: 
  • General
    • Theme
    • Preferences
    • More
  • Apps
  • Keyboard shortcuts

 

General tab

  • Theme
    • System: In this setting, the color scheme aligns with that of your device.
    • Light: This setting presents a traditional light color scheme in the Dropbox Dash desktop app.
    • Dark: This setting presents a dark color scheme in the Dropbox Dash desktop app instead of the traditional light background. 
  • Preferences
    • Display debug mode: This setting provides additional information and additional options to help identify and understand potential software issues.
  • More
    • Version history
    • Check for updates
    • Legal and privacy
    • Reset and quit
    • Quit Dash    

Apps tab

In the Apps tab, you can search for available applications. You can find apps by using the Search Dash bar and also by using keywords. You can also browse apps that are compatible with Dropbox Dash, as well as those that are already connected, by clicking Manage Apps.

Keyboard shortcuts tab

The Keyboard shortcuts tab allows you to edit keyboard shortcuts to use in Dropbox Dash.
