How to use stacks in Dropbox Dash

Stacks are an organizational feature that allows users to collect and organize various types of content in one place. They’re similar to folders or playlists and enable users to maintain control, and easily access and share their most important content. Stacks can be utilized for effective collaboration, case management, and knowledge organization, enhancing productivity and efficiency.
How to create a stack
To create a stack:
- Open Dropbox Dash or bring up the Dash window, if it’s not already open.
- If you added Dash to your browser, click “+” (plus sign) to open a new Dash browser window.
- Click (stacked papers icon) in the left sidebar and click +Create Stack.
- You can also click Create Stack under the search bar.
- Type a title for the stack in the Stack Name field.
- Click Add description... under your stack title to provide more information about this stack.
- Click Create Stack.
Note: To edit the name of your stack, click the “…“ (ellipsis) above the stack you want to pin and click Edit Stack Details to type the title you want.
How to pin stacks
Pinning a stack will keep it at the top of your stacks list for quick access.
To pin a stack:
- Open Dropbox Dash or click “+” (plus sign) to open a new browser window.
- Click the “…“ (ellipsis) above the stack you want to pin and click Pin Stack.
- You can also open your stack and click above your stack title.
To unpin a stack:
- Open Dropbox Dash or click “+” (plus sign) to open a new browser window.
- Click the “…“ (ellipsis) above the stack you want to pin and click Unpin Stack.
- You can also open your stack and click above your stack title.
How to add content to a stack
Adding content to stacks makes it easy to find, organize, and share. To add content, click +Add to Stack.
- To add a website, add a URL to the Paste a link bar and click “+” (plus sign) or hit Enter on your keyboard.
- To search for content, begin typing in the Search for a file, doc, or link bar and Dash will suggest possible content by searching your content and connected apps. Click on the desired result to add it to your stack.
To add sections to your stack:
- Open Dropbox Dash or click “+” (plus sign) to open a new browser window.
- Click the stack you’d like to add a section to.
- Click +Create Section.
- Enter a title for your section.
- Click the checkmark or hit Enter or Return on your keyboard.
- To add content to a section, hover over the desired item and click “…” (ellipsis).
- Hover over Move to section and click the destination from the dropdown menu.
To remove a section:
- Open Dropbox Dash or click “+” (plus sign) to open a new browser window.
- Click the stack you’d like to add content to.
- Click “…” (ellipsis) in the section you want to remove.
- Select Remove section from the dropdown menu.
How to share stacks
- Open Dropbox Dash or click “+” (plus sign) to open a new browser window.
- Click the share icon (rectangle with up arrow) at the top of the stack you want to share..
- Note: You can also open your stack and click the Share above your stack title.
- Enter the name or email of the desired contact in the Invite people field.
- Note: You may also copy a link from this menu and set permissions for who can access that link.
- Click the dropdown menu to select if invitees have Can view or Can edit privileges.
- Toggle the optional Send email notification button to notify invitees by email that you have shared a stack.
- Enter an optional note in the Add a note field.
- Click Send.
Notes:
- If you share a link that’s accessible to your entire organization, any team member who clicks on that link will automatically be invited to that stack.
- If a stack is set to Private (the default setting), only invited users can see the stack via shared link.
How to manage sharing settings for stacks
- Open Dropbox Dash or click “+” (plus sign) to open a new browser window.
- Click the stack that you’d like to manage sharing settings for.
- Click the gear icon next to Share this Stack.
- Click the dropdown under Link sharing to change sharing settings to private, your entire organization, or public.
Note: Only Dropbox team accounts have the option to set sharing settings to their entire organization.
