Note: The “sign in as a user” feature doesn’t allow your admin to open and access your personal Dropbox account if you've linked this to your team account. However, they can view the name and email address of your linked personal account.

Can admins set sharing permissions?

To protect organization data, admins can determine whether you can share files and folders with people who aren’t on your team. Admins have access to activity logs that allow them to view the email addresses of people with whom you’ve shared.

Can admins approve linked devices?

By default, Dropbox allows you to link both a personal and a work account to a computer. Admins have the ability to prevent you from linking both accounts, but this only applies to the Dropbox desktop app, not mobile devices or dropbox.com.

Can admins manage camera uploads

Admins have the ability to enable or disable camera uploads for the entire Dropbox team.

Can admins access my files?

By default, everything in your Dropbox team account is private. Other team members won't be able to access your files unless you share them using shared links or shared folders. Admins can view files in your account using sign in as user.

What happens when I leave my organization?

If you leave your organization, an admin can remove you from your Dropbox team. They can either suspend, delete, or convert your account.

What exactly can an admin do in my account?

Sign in as user allows admins to:

If you need help changing a setting on your account—for example, resetting a password—you should direct your admin to manage this using the admin console.

How do I know when an admin has accessed my account?

If your admin has accessed your Dropbox team account using the Sign in as user feature, you may receive a notification email. However, it is at your admin's discretion whether to send this email. If you have further questions or concerns, please check with your admin.

I linked my personal and work accounts—will my admin have access to both?

No, they won’t. If you’re a team member and you linked your personal and work Dropbox accounts, Sign in as user doesn’t allow your admin to open and access your linked personal account. However, they can view the name and email address of your linked personal account.

Can I prevent my admin from logging in to my team account?

No, team members can't disable this feature. If you have concerns about security or content in your Dropbox account, you should speak with your admin about the policies at your organization.
