Collect files from people with a Dropbox file request
Dropbox file requests let you request files from anyone and collect them right in your Dropbox account. With file requests:
Anyone can send you a file you've requested, whether they have a Dropbox account or not.
All the files you collect are automatically organized into a Dropbox folder you choose.
People who upload files to your file request cannot access your Dropbox account. Only you can view files uploaded by others, unless you decide to share them.
Note: All files collected with a file request will take up space in your Dropbox account. To ensure that you can accept the files that you're requesting, check how much space you have available. If there isn’t enough space for the files you want to request, recipients will receive an error when they try to upload. Dropbox Basic, Plus, or Family user, can only upload files up to 2 GB. For files larger than 2 GB, consider using a shared link. Professional users can accept files up to 50 GB in size.
Under Description, add details about the request, if you like.
Under Folder for uploaded files, you'll see the path to a new folder for your requested files. If you'd like to change the destination, click Change folder.
Click the check box next to Set deadline to choose a date and time. You can also Allow late uploads and choose a timeframe (available only to Dropbox Professional and Business customers).
Type the email or name of the person (or people) you’d like to request files from. They’ll receive an email about your request.
To copy a link instead, click Copy next to Share a link instead. You can paste the link into an email, message, or wherever you’d like people to access it.
Click Share. You’ll receive an email confirmation, and an email notification when files are uploaded to your file request.
Note: By default, the destination folder for uploaded files is private. You can share the uploaded files by selecting a shared folder when you create the request, or by sharing the files or folder after files have been uploaded.
