A Dropbox Sign account conflict happens when a member of a Dropbox team account has existing files associated with a Sign account with the same email address.
How to resolve a Dropbox Sign account conflict
If you have a Sign account conflict, you'll see the message “How should we handle your account on Dropbox Sign?” when you click the Signatures page on dropbox.com.
Before you can resolve the conflict, you'll need to choose one of these options:
- Keep your personal Sign account separate from the team: You’re the only one with access and you maintain ownership of the content
- Combine your Sign account with the team account: It will be shared with the team and the Dropbox team now owns the content
If you choose to keep it separate from the team:
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Click Signatures in the left sidebar.
- Click Update email.
- You’ll be taken to hellosign.com and asked to log in.
- Log in with your Sign credentials.
- Click Update email address.
- Enter a different email address that doesn’t have an existing Sign account.
- Check your email inbox for a verification email, then click Verify your email in that email.
- You’ll get a confirmation message to say your email address has been verified, then you’ll be logged out of your Sign account.
- Note: The Sign account conflict is only resolved after you verify your new email address.
If you choose combine accounts:
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Click Signatures in the left sidebar.
- Click Combine accounts.
- This will automatically merge your existing Sign files with your Dropbox team account. If applicable, it will automatically refund a prorated amount for your Sign subscription.
- Depending how many files you have, it may take a few minutes to transfer all the files.
Once completed, you‘ll be routed to hellosign.com.
